In  december 1984 I bought my very first photography book ” Eye Love You” of the dutch photographer Ed van der Elsken. The purity  of and connection in the images struck me straight into the heart. There was an extra layer – beyond words – that revealed the natural soul of the  portrayed .

This year The Stedelijk museum in Amsterdam honours Ed with a beautiful exhibition showing his vast body of work.

The Stedelijk museum also organises a photo contest in the spirit of my role model Ed van der Elsken.
